What are School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBAT’s)

A school-based apprenticeship or traineeship is a nationally accredited qualification that is recognized throughout Australia and done as part of latter secondary schooling (Year 10, 11 & 12) which combines accredited apprenticeship or traineeship training and part time paid work. This model allows the completion of TAFE training and work time over a 1 or 2 year period while completing secondary school.

The experience you gain from your school-based apprenticeship or traineeship will be highly regarded by Employers. You will have an insight into the career path of your choice, putting you way ahead of your peers in the job marketplace and giving you essential training and experience before you even finish secondary school.

There are many reasons to do an SBAT. Firstly it’s a part time job, which gives you an income while you are studying at school. It’s also a way to gain valuable experience in a profession or trade, giving you great career prospects.
