Southern Suburbs Group Training Scheme Inc first opened its doors on the 8th March 1987!

Over time, our logo and marketing name have changed, however we are still Southern Suburbs Group Training Inc., Trading As “ATEP, Apprenticeship and Traineeship Employment Partners.”

We started with 7 apprentices. By 1989, we employed 30 apprentices and trainees and had 2 staff. The figure of 50 apprentices and trainees was reached in 1992. In December 1998 apprentice and trainee numbers reached 80. The employment of over 300 apprentices and trainees was achieved during June 2008.

With full time Apprenticeships and Traineeships our core business, the last 8 years has seen us develop School Based Apprenticeships & Traineeships (SBAT) Programs within schools for around 120 students a year.

Today 8th March 2017, sees the commencement of a new Program offering pre-apprenticeships to disadvantaged 15-24 year olds. Our On The Road To Work Program delivers a certificate 2, work experience, assistance with transport, resume & interview skills… It is part of the Multi-Industry Program launched by the Government in 2016.

We would like to acknowledge the founders of the organisation, as well as it’s past and current staff and Board Members.

Our thanks to all the Host Employers who are dedicated to offering young people training & skills for the future; and to all the hard working apprentices and trainees who make it worth it.

Happy Birthday!
