Another successful year for our SBAT Program

In 2015 we had 92 SBAT’s complete Certificate II in Parks & Gardens working 2 days per week at their school .

Schools that participated were:

  • Berendale School
  • Emerson School
  • Carrum Downs SC
  • Korumburra SC/Coal Creek
  • Marnebek School
  • Mornington SC
  • Westernport SC

The students were responsible for maintaining the school grounds and completing special projects.  Some of the projects completed were:

  • Paving
  • New garden installation with irrigation system
  • Jetty
  • Wetlands maintenance
  • Themed garden beds
  • Vegetable Gardens
  • Redesign of Gardens

Completion of the Certificate has given students pathways into the Horticulture industry, leading them into positions such as: landscaper, garden maintenance, nursery hand aswell as general employability skills enhancing their chances of gaining employment in many industries.

One of the students from Mornington SC has gained employment in the industry with a local employer Eden Gardens.
